Providing food and welfare support across the city for people in need.

We provide food and welfare support across Newcastle for people in need.

Our aim is to tackle food insecurity and poverty. Our work began in the West End of Newcastle in 2013 to assist people in the surrounding communities struggling to afford food.

Since those early days we have seen more people seek assistance, and in response the Foodbank has established a network food distribution centres throughout the city. In response to an increase in demand, our services have expanded, we now provide welfare assistance through our Pathways welfare programmes. We have also recently opened a network of Community Pantries within the City to provide low income households with affordable shopping.

All of our work is made possible by a dedicated team of staff and volunteers who work in collaboration with our community partners, donors and stakeholders to make a meaningful difference to peoples’ lives.

Our Charity

Our mission is to help people in Newcastle experiencing food poverty, by providing food parcels and food services as well as offering them care and support. Our aim is to enable people to live life with a full diet and free from hunger. Our services are delivered in collaboration with other agencies and stakeholders.

Providing a network of Community Pantries in socially disadvantaged neighborhoods across the City, the pantry is a membership based co-operative model and provides household groceries to customers at affordable prices.

Food Newcastle is an independent network of individuals and food related organisations leading change for a healthier food culture in Newcastle upon Tyne. Food Newcastle is hosted by Newcastle Foodbank.

The NUFC Fans Foodbank is a collective of volunteers and football fans who raise funds for our Charity at Newcastle United home games. The Fans Foodbank is part of a wider, national Fans Supporting Foodbank Network.
